The timber storehouse

The timber storehouse is a field especially upgraded so as to conserve and to dry naturally the timber. Its capacity is of 10.000 m3.

Through natural drying the specific humidity is decreased to 24-26%. This is very helpful because this way the transport inside the package is safe from undervaluation through mouldiness, tinting or exfoliation.

For the timber dried artificially, at a humidity of 10%, 12%, 14%, we have roofed storing spaces with a total storage capacity of 1500 m3.

The main steps of the production process inside the timber store house are:

  1. Stacking and pre-sorting
  2. Inventory
  3. The transport to the storage rooms.
  4. Preparation for delivery
  5. Delivery to the purchaser.

1. Pre-sorting and stacking the timber in the store house

The timber is brought to the special built sheds where it is stacked and also pre-sorted according to the standard quality range A&B for export and to the extra quality 3&4 clean planes.

The packs have:

  • an assortment: TAL; NA, TAS, TASS
  • a thickness: 25, 38, 50, 60, 70, 80 mm
  • a length
  • a quality class: - standard A and B
                                - extra quality 3-4 sides clear

2. Inventory

Timber’s inventory is made taking into consideration the bales. The date when the pack was built up, the assortment, the thickness of the pieces and unique number of identification is marked on each bale.

Sorting the packs into cubes from the stacks is made depending on their length, width, thickness and the number of rows adequate to every bale.

3. Transporting to the storage house

The operations from the sorting sheds being finished, the timber is transported and put on the deposit plate racks on the sections settled for every assortment.

4. Preparing the timber for delivery

Preparing the timber is totting the process in connection to the transport of packs from the stocking place to the sorting ones on different range of quality: length, thickness, width, bale, marking and final inventory.

The preparation is made in connection to the orders so as to obtain the contracted dimensional and qualitative specification.

Sorting them into cubes is made for every piece, the length and the width being marked with wood chalk on the upper plane of the piece.

The bales of long timber (TAL, NA) and of short timber (TAS) with one length on the bale, one thickness, one quality range, full range of widths.

The bales of timber super short (TASS) have one thickness, mixed quality range (or as required by the client only one quality range), full range of lengths and widths.

In order to protect the timber and to identify the manufacturer, under the last row of timber of the bales a personalized wax paper is placed.

Every pack is marked on top with the identification number, quality class, volume, number of pieces and on one side with the marking asked by the purchaser.

The bales are tied with propylene tape, the number of ties depending on how big is the bale and on the timber’s sort.

5. Delivery to the purchaser

It’s the last step of the technological process regarding the timber manufacturing along with the loading process. The means of transportation can be:

  • containers of 20’ or 40’ shipped on specialised ships in Constanța port.
  • truck transport from factory to Constanta harbor with transshipment to a liner transport.
